DiCon Fiberoptics’ VX opto-mechanical switches utilize a high resolution stepper motor to reliably and repeatably connect fibers to one another. In addition, the VX switches are bi-directional and can be used in either the 1xN or Nx1 direction.
Advantages of DiCon’s VX Optical Switches
- Crosstalk ≤ -80 dB
- Low Insertion Loss for Large 1xN Multimode Applications
- Available with Singlemode, Multimode, Polarization Maintaining or Even Large Core Fiber Types
DiCon’s VX Stepper Motor Switch Technology
DiCon’s VX stepper motor optical switches are a direct fiber to fiber switch technology, that operates by physically pointing one fiber to the other. This is accomplished by utilizing a high resolution stepper motor to precisely rotate and point the common fiber(s) to the selected output fiber(s).

Available Configurations
1xN Simplex Configuration
1xN simplex configuration allows one common fiber to connect to any one of N output fibers.

1xN Duplex Configuration
1xN duplex configuration switches a pair of input fibers to a selected pair of output fibers. The first digit of the output label indicates the output pair. The second digit corresponds to the input fiber.

2xN Blocking Configuration
2xN blocking configuration has two input fibers and N number of output fibers. The switch will connect one of the two inputs to a selected output, and blocks the other input.

2xN Non-Blocking Configuration
2xN non-blocking configuration has two input fibers and N number of output fibers. The switch connects the pair of inputs to a selected pair of outputs. The input pair can be moved in single channel increments.

Rackmount VX Optical Switches
DiCon can integrate the VX fiber optic switch module into a simple rackmount housing with Ethernet, RS-232 or TTL control. The VX rackmount switch can also be built with large core fiber, and GP750 VX switch modules can do larger 1xN sizes up to 1x120. Please contact DiCon Fiberoptics to discuss further.
